Fans poured into Darien Lake Amphitheater this past weekend to finish the summer off strong. Arriving hours early to beat the crowds, tailgaters could be seen rocking out in the parking lot in anticipation for the concert of the summer for some. This SOLD OUT show packed the eager people in to catch the biggest names in rock of the past 25 plus years.
Hinder kicked things off in high gear with their smash hit All American Nightmare, the title track off their 2010 album. They played a seven-song set- and surprisingly did NOT end on Lips On An Angel. Rather, they chose to kick it up a notch, digging a bit deeper, and hitting us with Get Stoned—an excellent choice, with fans screaming the lyrics right back at them to end the set.
Hoobastank hit the stage next and kept the high energy alive! Frontman, Dogg Robb, was running all over the stage from side to side, and got right up close with the fans. If that was not enough, they had a 3-year-old on stage with them rockin' along with their own guitar. They played a nine-track set, hitting all the big tracks like Running Away, Crawling In The Dark, Same Direction, The Reason- yeah, they were all there, and everyone was singing along.
Seether was next, and if you have seen them before, you know their stage show is not as energetic, but rather, more on the mellow side. They are super connected to the lyrics of the songs, making it an emotional connection for those in attendance. Seether had about an hour set, with a beautiful, dark set light show. They played through eleven tracks, hitting all the fan favorites before ending it with Remedy.
The stage setup was massive for STAIND, with the visuals looking like a giant UFO floating above the stage. The band played through fifteen recognizable tracks, and you were singing every line right back at them all night. They even had a tribute video honoring several rock legends who have passed away playing behind the band, including Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, and Chester Bennington. It was a very emotional set with incredible music to back it, making it an unforgettable night for all. 25 years of Break the Cycle… and these songs hit just as hard live today as they did when we first heard them years ago.
