Covering the music of Alanis Morissette is no small feat, and could be a terrifying one at
that, but Tony Award nominee Mary Bridget Davies takes on “Uninvited” and “You
Oughta Know” with fearless intensity in this standout performance from Women Who
Rock You, held at Joe’s Pub in New York City on June 30.
Best known for her Tony-nominated role as Janis Joplin in A Night with Janis Joplin,
Davies brings her signature rock-and-roll powerhouse vocals to the set. From the
moment she steps onstage, her electric presence is matched by a dynamic live band
that pairs perfectly with her soaring voice.
This seven-minute performance is both a tribute to Alanis Morissette’s legacy and a
showcase of Davies’ artistry. It’s powerful, it’s catchy, it’s fresh—while still warmly
nostalgic for the '90s.
