Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that starting 8 P.M. today, April 15th, that public workers that find themselves within 6 feet of another individual must wear a face shield, or face mask of some fashion. This order will be in effect until May 12th.
Gov. Cuomo also stated that he would be issuing a separate order later this week that would require all people that are in New York State to wear some sort of mask or face cover while they are in the space of a building, busy park, or any public transit method.
The following have been qualified to count as a face mask or face shield:
- face shields
- surgical masks
- N-95 respirators
- Homemade masks
- Bandanas or other cloths
Employers must supply and pay for the face masks for their emplyees, and must allow their employees to take these home to use. Employers that do not comply can face a maximum fine of $2,000, along with other possible charges.
