Governor Cuomo (NY) and Governor Wolf (PA) both announced today that both states will be mandating that residents will need to wear a protective face shield or mask while out in public, including employees at workplaces.
In N.Y., Governor Cuomo all people in public who are not able to maintain social distancing in a public location properly (public transit, grocery store, busy parks or walkways) must wear a facial protection device of some nature. Governor Cuomo stated that this order would go into effect as of 8 P.M. Friday Evening (April 16, 2020) All public workers must also wear a mask, which must also be supplied to workers from their employers. Both Maryland and New Jersey both adopted this mandate last week in their own respective states.
Governor Wolf (PA) also stated the enforcement of requirements for businesses to comply with to help protect frontline workers employed at locations still physically open (essential businesses and healthcare facilities). Wolf had previously remarked earlier in April that residents wear masks while in public
