A nearly sold-out crowd packed CMAC in Canadaiga, NY for punk rock legends, Sublime. Fans were eager to see how new frontman Jakob Nowell carried the band. They recently dropped a new album, "Until The Sun Explodes" that has been well recived from critics and fans alike.
Before we got to the main act, of course they brought some friends along with them. The first being Bedouin Soundclash; a reggae ska trio out of the Toronto, Canada area. They brought a very laid back and chill performance to set the vibe for the smoke-filled corridors.
The Ataris took to the stage next and ripped through nine tracks in total- two of which were covers (Jawbreaker's Boxcar and Don Henley's Boys Of Summer). Boys of Summer, arguably one of their biggest hits from back in the early 00s- a song that had the crowd singing along to every word. They brought a lights dim, chill energy. We lost one of the guitarists for the last few songs, which honestly pumped it up a bit, turning them into a bit more punk rock.
BUT HOW DID IT SOUND?
Okay...the bass in the mix was a bit high, but let's not blame the band right away on that. Overall, Nowell really carries the torch and keeps the spirit of Sublime alive. The next show is set for Louder Than Life in Louiville, KY fresh off their Vans Warped Tour stop. Be sure to catch this act while you have the oppurtunity!
